About Us
On January 4, 2006 a group of 11 people met in Washington County to begin the process of forming an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV)club . That initial core team included Conservation Wardens, Trail Patrol Ambassadors, Wisconsin DNR ATV Safety Instructors, All-Terrain Safety Institute (ASI) ATV Safety Instructor, Several ATV business professionals and general ATV enthusiasts.
From that meeting, core objectives the club would follow included:
* Providing a positive public image and promoting the safe & ethical operation
of ATV's.
* Promoting and providing additional ATV Safety Training.
* Support and provide club personnel for the Trail Patrol Ambassador program.
Between January and August 2006, the core team developed a club name (Kettle Moraine ATV Association, Inc.), by-laws, incorporated and organized a leadership team. Since then, we have continued to develop a set of policies and procedures to ensure that our club focuses on safe and responsible riding. Memberships were then accepted.
Since our inception, members have worked diligently to have the Eisenbahn State Trail opened from the north side of West Bend to the Fond du Lac County line to ATVs during the winter months. We are grateful to the Washington County Board of Supervisors and all in the Washington County Parks and Planning for their assistance in allowing ATV use on the trail. (Please follow all guidelines for ATV use on the trail, one or two poor decisions can lose the trail for all of us).
Since then, KMATVA, along with the other clubs in the area, have help estabolish an endless supply of road routes in Washington, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, and Ozaukee counties. Hopefully the state will follow suite, and make the Kettle Moraine State Forest a premiere recreational destination for all outdoor lovers.
