I want to share some tragic news regarding 2 of our beloved members. On December 3rd, our KMATVA community lost one of our beloved members. Vickie Ellickson, the better half of Rick Welch, lost her battle with cancer after a year long battle but in the end, God needed her more to let her finally have the peace she so deserved. Vickie went on most rides since she joined with Rick and loved the socializing and friendships much more than the riding. Sitting around with friends after the rides was her happy place. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Rick who has an impossible void in his life to fill.

Things went from bad to worse. On December 16th, Connie Rohrer, our club secretary and wife of our president Tim, passed away unexpectedly at the hospital. I can't even phantom the pain that Tim has to be experiencing right now. Tim did ask for some privacy for a few days to even begin to contemplate the severity of this situation. Being the club secretary, a position bestowed upon her when she missed a meeting 12 years ago, she handled most of the social functions of the club. The Holiday gathering party, the July picnic, finding new locations for our club meetings over the years, the Charity Ride, and the list goes on and on of her tireless commitment to our club. Because she loved us, we loved her back. Outside the club, for her friends on FB for instance, she always had a cute comment for just about everyone, and posted fun and inspirational messages. She was always the first to help out a friend in need. Connie will be greatly missed as well and like Rick, our deepest heartfelt condolences go out to Tim as well.

As luck would have it, both memorials are on the same date.

The Eisenbahn trail is temperature dependant on opening and closing. If the temperature is below 29 degrees for the entire day it will be open. If the temperature is above 28 for any part of the day, it will be closed.

ATV/UTV use is permitted on the Eisenbahn State Trail from December 15th to March 15th when the following conditions are met.
  • The temperature must be less than 29 degrees for the entire day, even if the hotlines say it's open.
  • Must be declared OPEN in Washington county at (262) 277-1503
  • In Fond du Lac county, if it's below 29, it's open. Above 28, it's closed.
  • Almost all roads in Washington county can access the trail including county highways.
  • Town roads only in Fond du Lac county can access the trail. Many no atv signs remain in place however
  • No other snowmobile trail access is permitted with the few acceptions; 1) The trail into the village of Eden, 2) The trail north of Hwy 45 to Winter Rd. in Eden, 3) The trail to Eden Community park 4) The trail out to Waucausta,

The Facebook page: ATV Eisenbahn State Trail  has been deactivated.
Please follow the page; Eisenbahn State Trail-ATV on Facebook for the absolute latest opening and closings.

ROAD ROUTE INFORMATION

If you are wondering about all the new road routes with all the new signs being posted, you may have a lot of questions on what is open and legal to ride on, and what is not.

WASHINGTON COUNTY

All town roads and county highways in townships that allow ATV use are open once posted. (Look for the little add-on sign under the town sign that simply states, "COUNTY HIGHWAYS INCLUDED"). The state highway connectors are posted from a beginning to ending point. This means only small sections of state highway will allow atv/utv use to get from one town road to another town road only, not the whole state highway in any township. This is going to be some confusion if you are on a county highway in Washington county and unknowingly cross into Fond du Lac. Be sure to know where you are or how to read the signs.

FOND DU LAC, SHEBOYGAN, OZAUKEE COUNTY

All town roads only in a particular township can be open once posted. This is only the town roads, not the county roads ( letters), state highways (numbers)or city or village roads. The county highways and state highways will have connector sections that will permit atv/utv use from one town road to another. Please become familiar with the township roads in the town you want to ride in and their municipal boundary. Polaris Ride Command is as up to date for our area and is still the best resource we have for road openings.
